Introduction: Electronic waste, or E-waste, is a term for electronic products/appliances such as mobile phones, televisions, computers, laptops, printers, fax machines or even their parts that have become unwanted, non-working or obsolete, and have essentially reached the end of their useful life. As per E-waste Management Rules 2016, “E-waste” has been defined as electrical and electronic equipment, whole or in part discarded as waste by the consumer or bulk consumer as well as rejects from manufacturing, refurbishment and repair processes. E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2016 and subsequent amendment applies to every manufacturer, producer, consumer, bulk consumer, collection centres, dealers, e-retailer, refurbisher, dismantler and recycler involved in manufacture, sale, transfer, purchase, collection, storage and processing of in-scope e-waste or waste electrical and electronic equipment including their components, consumables, parts and spares. E-waste generally consists of those substances contained in the electronic product that can bring adverse effects to the atmosphere and hence managing it in a proper way is important. Apart from affecting the environment, it can also affect the health of the people.
